Blues for the Monday Blues

Good Morning! So I know it’s Monday – but on my blog, folks? It’s perpetually the weekend πŸ™‚ where you can wear light and airy clothing, let your hair down, and sip on a cocktail. Yes πŸ™‚

Photo Jul 26, 6 58 55 AM.jpg

But..for sake of reality: these happy shots were taken at a speakeasy downtown Orlando last week, where my coworker and I chilled after our day-long meeting.

I loved the outfit for its fun and comfortable style and thought I’d share it because the prices were ridiculous! So the shoes were from Francescas, bought years ago. But the top and bottoms were from Pitaya, purchased together from their bogo 70% sale!

Check them out – their clothing is cute and affordable and you won’t be sorry. πŸ™‚

My items above are sold out but I’ve listed some similar styles below that you may like!

Good Morning!

Ah, how good it is to be home. This week’s work trip was a short one though – only two nights – and it was in beautiful Orlando, Florida. We stayed downtown and our client’s massive offices were in the heart of the city.

I opted for comfort when dressing for this meeting because it was going to be eight hours spent in a conference room with a working-lunch. Correct. πŸ™‚

See the bottom of today’s post for outfit details! Can you believe it was under $60 for both the top and bottoms?!

I got my Kate Spade NY laptop bag last year when their sale was over half off. And the top and bottoms are from Nordstrom Rack. I’ve posted the links below.

Summer Concerts

Good Morning πŸ™‚

Last week was a full and fast-paced one in Atlanta – working and training a new team-member by day, and playing with my 3-yr-old niece and 1-yr-old nephew by evening. It was awesome seeing my siblings who lived there as well! πŸ™‚

And this week has continued in kind – with crazy workdays and packed evenings. Yesterday was my sister’s birthday and we went to the One Republic concert at DTE Clarkston. We are huge fans of theirs and belted out their tunes with abandon, ha!

I opted for this cute yellow romper I found at a steal at Dry Goods – only $10. Tip — they told me all their items will eventually get to 75% off so periodically stop in and check their clearance rack for fun new finds!

This pretty little number was light and breezy and I thought it was perfect for a summer evening concert. So comfy and easy to wear. I accessorized with army green tones: my long necklace, layered with aΒ FrancescasΒ choker, army-green shades, and army-green sandals.

But my sister Julianna’s outfit was absolutely stunning and definitely stole the show — sold out at Express. I listed some substitute options for both our styles at the bottom πŸ™‚

Happy shopping, friends! And thanks for stopping by πŸ™‚

Rompin’ ’round Ponce City Market!

Good morning, Monday! Ah, Leo and I had so much fun this weekend with my family here in Atlanta.

One of the fun places we visited was Ponce City Market in the city and I loved it — so many fun stores to see!

Leo picked out this romper for me back home in Ann Arbor and the hot, hot, hot day yesterday offered the perfect opportunity for wear πŸ™‚

I loved the pretty setup, indoors and out.

The lively colors splashed fun throughout — how cute is this pink area? A girl’s dream!

I wanna go back and get a big ol’ cone of ice-cream. But I’m already running a bit late for my workday — I’m actually here in Atlanta on business Monday-Friday and just grateful I got to come early for a fun weekend with family πŸ™‚

Anyway — hope “ya’ll” have a great week πŸ™‚ All smiles down south here in HOTlanta.

When wearing a neutral-toned outfit/shoes, pair a fun and bright pair of earrings and lipstick for a pretty pop of color. πŸ™‚

Red & White

Good Morning! LOVE when a Monday falls on a Wednesday and we’re still only two days away from Friday πŸ˜‰

My [real] Monday night was spent with Leo watching the Gaylord, MI fireworks — Plymouth’s were discontinued this year so we made our way out to Gaylord with a picnic blanket and some snacks and camped out for what was a beautiful show!

I love the way fireworks light up the sky and my favorites are the kind that explode in golden light, before fragments of their glow arch downward like a willow tree.

So much SHINE!

Leo snapped a few awesome shots – my designated photographer :p haha

I hope your Fourth was awesome, friends πŸ™‚

(Outfit Details below)

This embroidered red blouse was a fun top I found at — you guessed it: Francescas! — shop it here

The scallop-hem white shorts are also from Francescas – I took a mirror selfie [hands over face] to capture a shot of the full look for ya to shop (see below). Mine are sold out (didn’t buy them this summer), but a similar style can be found here.

DIA Blue

Hi! Happy Monday — today’s my favorite kind bc it’s a HALF-DAY before a holiday πŸ™‚ I mean how much better can a Monday get?! πŸ™‚

In honor of our beautiful red, white and blue love this weekend, I thought I’d start with the latter of the three – blue! Friday night was a cool and rainy one and Leo and I thought the perfect way to kick off the weekend was with a visit to one of our favorite locales: the grand DIA. How I love our Detroit Institute of Arts. I could spend hours just soaking in their art.

Also: rain is so romantic in my estimation and the DIA, the beginning of a holiday weekend and my man? Recipe for success.

What I dub the DIA’s “red room” is my favorite — I wish they’d install a little reading nook with my name on it so I can go there to spend hours in thought, in reading, or in writing – really in whatever incredible state of mind I’m sure to be in, surrounded by such stunning historical art. LOVE!

So I know that’s a crazy thought! But hey — a girl can dream. πŸ˜‰

Scroll to the bottom for my outfit details (another fun piece under $15! Because I thought I’d stick with the $15 theme of my last few posts, ha!)

Hope you’re enjoying your Independence Day weekend, friends πŸ™‚ Cheers!

Townhouse Detroit

Outfit details —

This fun top, perfect for more chilly summer nights, is another Francesca’s steal from their “sale on sale” — still in stock here.

And those gorgeous Marc Fisher shoes? I promise they were under $17 when I purchased them last Autumn on Macy‘s clearance — I shopped them for ya, and while mine are sold out, here are a couple of Marc Fisher sale shoes — this in a shade of blue and this one closer to my style in black!

Happy shopping!

Cloudy Greens

Good morning, Friday Junior! Hello hello! πŸ™‚

So, yesterday night, Leo, my sister Julianna, and I went to another Tigers game – boo on so many losses 😦 But it was still an engaging game that we enjoyed!

Photo Jun 28, 11 49 13 PM.jpg

I love choosing outfits for different occasions and yesterday’s weather forecast didn’t know if it wanted to be gloomily cold, or just cloudy and humid so I thought a loose romper with a long duster sweater would be the way to go!

Photo Jun 28, 11 48 28 PM.jpg

How pretty is Detroit?! It’s truly making its anticipated comeback and I’m so proud! So many new and exciting restaurants, coffee shops, bars, and more sprouting up all around.

Wore my hair in looser waves…trying to protect it from too much styling lately so just kinda let it be — if you have a really good curling iron, your curls will only drop little by little and can thereby last for days. Reference this post for the tools I use (featured at the bottom) πŸ™‚

So, I bought the romper last summer, but it’s only $15 on sale this summer at Lulu’s – check it out here!

Acai & Florals

Good morning, friends! I’m writing to you from my balcony, in the sunshine…it’s a lovely day. I love quiet mornings when the sun comes out to play and I can actually meet it. πŸ™‚

Yesterday morning, I grabbed a healthy breakfast with my sister downtown Ann Arbor.

Photo Jun 28, 7 58 34 AM.jpg

I loved the place we went to — Fred’s on Washington Street. It’s my favorite locale for acai bowls as they make the finest in town.

Photo Jun 28, 7 56 30 AM.jpg

Besides, look at their decor!! I was actually there the day the artist painted this stunning mural at Fred’s and it was a wonder watching her work — yes, haters, I frequent the place often <shrug>. Haha jk, not quite as often as I’d like – it was just a lucky day. πŸ™‚ Isn’t her work amazing?! So bright and happy and detailed.

I positively love being there. If you’re ever in the area, give it a visit! They serve energy smoothies, super foods, vegan cupcakes, and that’s only naming a few of their bestsellers.

And as for the fashion tips — I shopped Francesca’s latest sale on sale and loved every minute of it. I didn’t have a whole lot of summer tops for this year and needed some new ones and Francesca’s was my go-to.Β  This top was only just under $13 when I bought it and for reference I’m wearing a Small. It’s remarkably still available in all three sizes (s, m, l) and you can find it here — hurry before the sale ends!

Happy Hump Day, friends – I hope it’s a great one for ya! ❀

Ferris Wheels

Summertime…it means farmers’ markets, carnivals, festivals, and kisses on Ferris Wheels…I hope you’ve been grabbing every opportunity that summer promises.

Take a moment to look events like these up in your area and try to find them at times that fit your schedule; you won’t be sorry. Leo found this carnival about ten minutes away from a work meeting we had one night this past week and he surprised me by stopping by it on our way home. We grabbed the opportunity for a little weeknight thrill!

How gorgeous is the sunset from our view atop this Ferris Wheel?! These photos below have no filter on them.

It wasn’t our first Ferris Wheel ride shared this summer. These were taken during the weekend at another nearby festival.

I purchased the pretty romper featured above at Somerset‘s Anthropologie, from their clearance section, for less than $20! They’ve been having some epic “sale on sales” — check them out if you get a chance this week πŸ™‚

Ferris Wheels are my favorite ride at carnivals. I actually have an epic fear of heights, but something about these slowly moving wheels that carry you up and up, lifting you gently into the sky gives me a thrill. It’s a slow and focused way to face my fear, and know the excitement of it… I’ve been trying to face every fear of mine, whether big or small, this year, and do it with an attitude of anticipation rather than anxiety. Perspective makes all the difference! πŸ™‚

Hope you’ve been enjoying your summer, friends. πŸ™‚

Night in Plymouth

Hi friends!

How cute is this little corner of downtown Plymouth? These photos are taken in front of their old post office turned into a market. They still have the old US Postal Service sign printed on the building!

I couldn’t help but stop and stare at some of the beauties coloring the front of their market. I was with my sister and she snapped some quick pics

I love flowers. Redundant for you to read those words on my blog at this point, ha! But flowers from the market are typically my favorite — so fresh and bright. I was bummed the market was closed by the time we passed it.

Make sure to visit the city — it’s bustling and happy and full of fun little hangout spots throughout.

Outfit details at the bottom.

Outfit Details:

The bag and jewelry have been featured in previous blogs so I’ll stick to the clothing. It’s all from previous seasons and out of stock but I linked some similar pieces for you to shop!

Cardigan was a steal at a Guess Outlet mall years ago. But here, here, and here are some slightly similar styles.

Shorts were a steal at a TJ Max three years ago. But here and here are similar styles.

Shirt was not a steal (ha!) at an Anthropologie years ago. But click here for their current pretty tops.
