Blues for the Monday Blues

Good Morning! So I know it’s Monday – but on my blog, folks? It’s perpetually the weekend 🙂 where you can wear light and airy clothing, let your hair down, and sip on a cocktail. Yes 🙂

Photo Jul 26, 6 58 55 AM.jpg

But..for sake of reality: these happy shots were taken at a speakeasy downtown Orlando last week, where my coworker and I chilled after our day-long meeting.

I loved the outfit for its fun and comfortable style and thought I’d share it because the prices were ridiculous! So the shoes were from Francescas, bought years ago. But the top and bottoms were from Pitaya, purchased together from their bogo 70% sale!

Check them out – their clothing is cute and affordable and you won’t be sorry. 🙂

My items above are sold out but I’ve listed some similar styles below that you may like!

Summer Concerts

Good Morning 🙂

Last week was a full and fast-paced one in Atlanta – working and training a new team-member by day, and playing with my 3-yr-old niece and 1-yr-old nephew by evening. It was awesome seeing my siblings who lived there as well! 🙂

And this week has continued in kind – with crazy workdays and packed evenings. Yesterday was my sister’s birthday and we went to the One Republic concert at DTE Clarkston. We are huge fans of theirs and belted out their tunes with abandon, ha!

img_3546.jpg

I opted for this cute yellow romper I found at a steal at Dry Goods – only $10. Tip — they told me all their items will eventually get to 75% off so periodically stop in and check their clearance rack for fun new finds!

This pretty little number was light and breezy and I thought it was perfect for a summer evening concert. So comfy and easy to wear. I accessorized with army green tones: my long necklace, layered with a Francescas choker, army-green shades, and army-green sandals.

But my sister Julianna’s outfit was absolutely stunning and definitely stole the show — sold out at Express. I listed some substitute options for both our styles at the bottom 🙂

Red & White

Good Morning! LOVE when a Monday falls on a Wednesday and we’re still only two days away from Friday 😉

My [real] Monday night was spent with Leo watching the Gaylord, MI fireworks — Plymouth’s were discontinued this year so we made our way out to Gaylord with a picnic blanket and some snacks and camped out for what was a beautiful show!

I love the way fireworks light up the sky and my favorites are the kind that explode in golden light, before fragments of their glow arch downward like a willow tree.

So much SHINE!

Leo snapped a few awesome shots – my designated photographer :p haha

I hope your Fourth was awesome, friends 🙂

(Outfit Details below)

This embroidered red blouse was a fun top I found at — you guessed it: Francescas! — shop it here

The scallop-hem white shorts are also from Francescas – I took a mirror selfie [hands over face] to capture a shot of the full look for ya to shop (see below). Mine are sold out (didn’t buy them this summer), but a similar style can be found here.

DIA Blue

Hi! Happy Monday — today’s my favorite kind bc it’s a HALF-DAY before a holiday 🙂 I mean how much better can a Monday get?! 🙂

In honor of our beautiful red, white and blue love this weekend, I thought I’d start with the latter of the three – blue! Friday night was a cool and rainy one and Leo and I thought the perfect way to kick off the weekend was with a visit to one of our favorite locales: the grand DIA. How I love our Detroit Institute of Arts. I could spend hours just soaking in their art.

Also: rain is so romantic in my estimation and the DIA, the beginning of a holiday weekend and my man? Recipe for success.

IMG_3181

What I dub the DIA’s “red room” is my favorite — I wish they’d install a little reading nook with my name on it so I can go there to spend hours in thought, in reading, or in writing – really in whatever incredible state of mind I’m sure to be in, surrounded by such stunning historical art. LOVE!

img_3182.jpg

So I know that’s a crazy thought! But hey — a girl can dream. 😉

Scroll to the bottom for my outfit details (another fun piece under $15! Because I thought I’d stick with the $15 theme of my last few posts, ha!)

Hope you’re enjoying your Independence Day weekend, friends 🙂 Cheers!

Outfit details —

This fun top, perfect for more chilly summer nights, is another Francesca’s steal from their “sale on sale” — still in stock here.

And those gorgeous Marc Fisher shoes? I promise they were under $17 when I purchased them last Autumn on Macy‘s clearance — I shopped them for ya, and while mine are sold out, here are a couple of Marc Fisher sale shoes — this in a shade of blue and this one closer to my style in black!

Happy shopping!

Night in Plymouth

Hi friends!

How cute is this little corner of downtown Plymouth? These photos are taken in front of their old post office turned into a market. They still have the old US Postal Service sign printed on the building!

I couldn’t help but stop and stare at some of the beauties coloring the front of their market. I was with my sister and she snapped some quick pics

photo-jun-20-1-50-37-am.jpg

I love flowers. Redundant for you to read those words on my blog at this point, ha! But flowers from the market are typically my favorite — so fresh and bright. I was bummed the market was closed by the time we passed it.

Make sure to visit the city — it’s bustling and happy and full of fun little hangout spots throughout.

Outfit details at the bottom.

The bag and jewelry have been featured in previous blogs so I’ll stick to the clothing. It’s all from previous seasons and out of stock but I linked some similar pieces for you to shop!

Cardigan was a steal at a Guess Outlet mall years ago. But here, here, and here are some slightly similar styles.

Shorts were a steal at a TJ Max three years ago. But here and here are similar styles.

Shirt was not a steal (ha!) at an Anthropologie years ago. But click here for their current pretty tops.

Date Night Fashion!

Good evening! Happy Friday Junior! 🙂

It’s been a heck of a work week for me but it’s been a good one!

I picked up some gorgeous peonies from the Farmer’s Market yesterday which I can’t wait to show you! But for now, I thought I’d share some date night fashion and tips on where to find similar styles.

(Outfit details at the bottom)

For a recent Royal Oak date night at a dueling piano bar, I went with a fun and flirty look that felt like Summertime:

Pair dressy shorts with neutral heels and a flirty top for a nighttime feel. I kept my hair down and sleek to add to the nighttime vibe.

Also, can we talk about how perfectly fresh and pretty this summertime cocktail is?!

And for a dressed up Ann Arbor date night, I went with this simple treasure I found on Anthropologie’s clearance rack – one of the best places you may visit 😉

I thought the blue was bold and bright while the cut and the delicate gold straps gave the dress a romantic flow… Also, how pretty are these lights ^^.

Happy shopping, friends:

The blue dress is an Anthro find which is currently sold out but you may be able to find one at your local store!

The white shorts are from Francescas: click here

The lace up shoes are from Lulu’s: similar style here

The one shoulder top paired with the white shorts is years old but click here for another fun style

Anniversary Weekend Adventures

Hi friends!

Have you ever been to Grand Rapids? It’s known as one of the largest cities in Michigan – second only to Detroit. And it’s beautiful!

We wanted to get away for our anniversary weekend and I was so happy Leo picked Grand Rapids!

Our favorite place there was the Frederick Meijer Botanical Gardens. I was in flower heaven! We loved it there – check back tomorrow for the gorgeous shots I captured from our visit there!

And if you’re ever in Grand Rapids, make sure you visit the nearby beaches. We went to Holland State Parks for the day and how lovely it was… felt so good to bury our toes in the sand and walk along the pier…

Downtown Grand Rapids is also such a grand time — be sure to try their signature Madcap coffee and eat at San Chez Bistro tapas restaurant – yum!

We were so grateful the weather held up for us — it had been forecast to be rainy and stormy but instead we were blessed with sunshine, warmth, and outdoor seating! 😉

We checked out their famed Blue Bridge and loved the scenic view from it, as well as of it. 🙂

So bottom line — go to Grand Rapids. Such a relaxing and happy getaway. Check back tomorrow for my favorite pictures of the trip — taken at the Frederick Meijer Botanical Gardens. They are magical!

Love!

Hangin’

Hey loves!

So I get to have tomorrow off – yay! This is the last day of my work week. I thought I’d go into this story positively, hehe – but the truth of the matter is tomorrow is a day off because I’m having four wisdom teeth surgically removed – joy!

Suffice it to say, you won’t be seeing any current photos of me this weekend ha – I hear I’ll be bruised and swollen (whelp!).

Anyway, my home will be my oasis for the weekend, and I’m grateful that I love my home — hopefully my hubby will keep it stocked with bright and happy flowers 😉 — he always does!

I think I’ll go shopping for a nice welcome mat for my front door, and maybe some more pretty and bright flowers to decorate the porch and balcony! Summer is coming and can you tell I’m excited — I thought I’d entice it closer with this bright yellow top I found at Pitaya last summer. 🙂 How fun is its string-tie back?

I loved the gladiator style sandal that decorated all of last summer and I’m so glad they’ve kept up the style this year – because, let’s be honest: I would’ve maintained it on my own had not the fashion-powers-that-be done so. 😉  #trendsetter #nonconformist #illquithashtaggingnow

Let’s get to the fun part — scroll to the bottom for some links to similar styles and have fun shopping! 🙂

Shop similar fashion pieces:

I got my yellow top from Pitaya boutique, but how fun is this one — I’d recommend wearing it over an Aerie or PINK bra with a thick and lacy back.

I picked out this fun and quirky necklace from some boutique I can’t remember [sigh] but you can find other cute styles here and here.

I purchased that pretty watch and the shoes from Francesca’s; shop similar styles here and here,

Happy shopping, friends!

Braids and Blues

Hi there 🙂

Leo took me to lunch downtown Plymouth to break up my workday yesterday and I loved it. It was a “work from home” day with no face-to-face appointments meaning I got to dress casually with no need for professional wear – win!

So hence the pretty, fluttery, blue-grey top 🙂 which I scored at TJ Maxx for less than $15! Love that place. They still have some left if you want to check your local store!

Jeans are Express and earrings are Anthro.

I used a newly learned braid that I’ve fallen in love with — you basically only dutch-braid the front and leave the back as a regular braid allowing you to pull it back without causing unwanted bumps in the style. 🙂

Photo May 09, 1 14 45 PM.jpg

I’ve been trying to be kinder to my hair by protecting it from the heat of straightening and curling irons. So, braids are a great go-to to keep the hair looking stylish and “done”.  Here’s a fun tutorial video I found with plenty of braid ideas — can’t wait to try some of these!

I’ll be sure to share them with you — as long as I’m successful in accomplishing them, of course 😉

Until next time, friends! ❤

Blushes and Creams

Good morning, Friends!

Hope you had a fantastic Sunday — I met up with my friend Tiff after church for some much appreciated flowery fun 🙂 How gorgeous are these flowered trees, downtown A2?! (That’s Ann Arbor for those of you who don’t know)

Flowers bring me so much peace. I love immersing myself in them. The colors of nature prove to me our Creator is definitely fashionable 🙂 I love His style 😉

Photo May 08, 9 45 56 AM

Today, I have a springy blush and cream outfit to share with you. Scroll to the bottom for fashion details. 🙂

Yesterday still packed some chill in the air so I brought along a light duster jacket to ward off some of the cool air wafting through the openings in my sweater.
